As a child in the 1960's I remember taking the train from Union Terminal to Lexington, Kentucky with my mother and brother to visit my grandmother. My dad would take us in to purchase the tickets and I would look up at the tile pictures in the rotunda for as long as I could. We would say goodbye to Dad and then board the train with the help of the sharply dressed conductors who were always so nice to us. If we were well behaved, my brother and I were allowed to walk to the dining car and have a Pepsi in a paper cup with a silver holder. Those are some of the best times in my memory for me, I loved the trains and Union Terminal. It was always a special occasion to take a trip from there. I wish my grandkids could take one now!
